Under My Wing Is Seeking Breakthrough

Under My Wing has burned a lot of money in her eight-race career.

The Oklahoma-bred has never been higher than 5-1 while finishing second or third on five occasions. Five of her losses have been at odds of 19-10 or less, and in two of her defeats, she was odds-on.

Making her second start of 2003, Under My Wing will try to end the frustration in tonight’s seventh, a 300-yard affair that attracted six other 3-year-old fillies. Eddie Garcia, who has been aboard for all of Under My Wing’s races, has the call again.

Among those racing Under My Wing are Royal Quick Mongoose, second in her last two races for trainer Blane Schvaneveldt, and Talk About Me Oh My, making her first local start for trainer Paul Jones.

Shots in the dark: A Lady With Rhythm could run well off a layoff in the fifth. Fax Her Fast is a rookie from a winning barn (Adan Farias) in the seventh.
