Fan Says He Was Assaulted by Pippen

A Portland season-ticket holder claims swingman Scottie Pippen verbally and physically assaulted him after the Trail Blazers’ playoff victory over Dallas on Sunday.

According to a police report, Jeff Scott McClelland, 33, said Pippen approached him after the game, shaking his finger in his face, and asking “What’s your problem, punk?”

McClelland claims Pippen threw a cup of water at him, hitting him on the chin and the lip.

The allegation is the latest episode in a season filled with bad publicity for the Trail Blazers, including the arrest of several players on drug charges.

Speaking in Dallas on Wednesday before the Trail Blazers played the Mavericks, Pippen said he would talk only about basketball.

No charges have been filed against Pippen.

Paul Michael Moore, who attended the game with McClelland, said McClelland was razzing Pippen throughout.

“I was spit on when Mr. Pippen came and when he was screaming at us over the railing,” Moore said. “We were actually spit on.”

Portions of the altercation were recorded via cell phone, Moore said. Moore also said Trail Blazer management asked him not to comment.

Golden State Warrior guard Jason Richardson was arrested Tuesday night following what police said was a fight with his former girlfriend at her home in Saginaw Township, Mich.

Richardson faces a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both, if convicted of the misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

No other details, including a trial date, were available.
