Arizona Overpowers Las Vegas, Will Play Avengers on Sunday

The Arizona Rattlers scored three defensive touchdowns, set a franchise record for points in a playoff game and defeated the Las Vegas Gladiators, 69-26, Sunday in an Arena Football League wild-card playoff game in front of 11,862 at Phoenix.

The 43 points tied the second-largest margin of victory in a playoff game in league history.

Sixth-seeded Arizona will play the fourth-seeded Avengers at Staples Center in a quarterfinal game Sunday.

Arizona’s Ricky Parker caught a touchdown pass and returned an interception 47 yards for another score.

Sherdrick Bonner passed for 190 yards and three touchdowns.

Detroit 55, Grand Rapids 54 -- Andy Kelly threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Sulecio Sanford as time expired, then connected with Sanford on a two-point conversion and the Fury won a wild-card game in front of 5,562 at Grand Rapids, Mich.

It was the first playoff win in franchise history for 10th-seeded Detroit, which will play the Tampa Bay Storm on Saturday.

Clint Dolezel threw for 285 yards and seven touchdowns for Grand Rapids.

New York 48, Chicago 45 -- Ian Howfield kicked a 30-yard field goal as time expired at Uniondale, N.Y., and the Dragons rallied from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win a wild-card game in front of 9,787.

Eighth-seeded New York will play at third-seeded Orlando on Sunday.

Aaron Garcia threw six touchdown passes for New York.
