Architect Daniel Libeskind, who submitted the winning design for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site, will write a book about “tragedy, memory and hope, and the way architecture can reshape human experience,” Riverhead Books announced Friday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Riverhead, which is part of Penguin Group (USA), said a portion of the proceeds would go to Windows of Hope, a charity that benefits the families of restaurant workers who died when the trade center was destroyed by terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001.
Nicole Strauss, a spokeswoman for Libeskind, said the specific percentage or amount of the donation was still being discussed by the architect and the charity.
