The Pittsburgh Penguins lost Mario Lemieux to a hip injury but ended up with a victory.

Playing without their captain for the final 42 minutes, the Penguins overcame a two-goal deficit and defeated the Boston Bruins, 3-2, on rookie Ryan Malone’s goal at 2:10 of overtime.

“Everybody’s got to pick up their game even more without Mario, because he’s such a significant part of our team,” said Rico Fata, who scored goals 4:48 apart in the third period to tie the score.

Lemieux, who left the game after playing 7:19 in the first period, had an eight-game scoring streak end.
