Los Angeles Marymount beat Pasadena La Salle, but took five games to do so. Santa Ana Mater Dei clinched the Serra League title. Long Beach Poly lost an appeal to have its second Moore League loss to Long Beach Wilson overturned on grounds the referee unfairly penalized the Jackrabbits one point for a premature celebration during the fifth game. Manhattan Beach Mira Costa finished third at the Santa Barbara tournament, where Newport Harbor won the consolation title. Anaheim Esperanza defeated Huntington Beach Edison and plays host to Los Alamitos today in a Sunset League showdown.

Dana Point Dana Hills and West Covina posted runaway victories last week, but the other eight ranked teams were idle in preparation for this week’s league finals. The most intriguing meet could be today’s Baseline League finals at Mt. San Antonio College, where Upland will try to end Rancho Cucamonga’s league title streak at six. Those teams were scheduled to have a dual meet last week, but the contest was not held because of poor air quality caused by the fires in San Bernardino County.

Anaheim Esperanza rolled to its third consecutive title in the Sunset League finals at Central Park in Huntington Beach on Saturday, but the rest of the ranked teams will run in their respective league finals this week. The most intriguing meet could be Thursday’s Bay League finals at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach, where West Torrance will try to end Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula’s league title streak at 12. The teams split the first two league meets this season.

Last week’s fires wreaked havoc with some teams’ schedules, and wiped out one of the most anticipated matchups. Laguna Beach was to play Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula, but the match has been canceled. As a result, the rankings remain much the same. In the only change, Brentwood falls out of the top 10 because of the loss of its No. 1 player, Austin Hansen, because of a back injury. Oxnard joins the rankings.
