Jamie Storr, once the goaltending future of the Kings, caught up with his past Saturday night, sharing the same building with his former teammates for the first time since signing with Carolina during the off-season.

Storr didn’t get off the bench -- Kevin Weekes is firmly entrenched as Carolina’s No. 1 -- but he did meet with some of the Kings before the game.

The Kings’ No. 1 pick in the 1994 draft, Storr was not re-signed after going 85-78-21 in nine seasons. He signed with Carolina in September and is 0-1-1 with a 2.90 goals-against average.

“The L.A. lifestyle was great for so many reasons, with the weather and my family and our [Manhattan Beach] house,” Storr said. “But the community here is a little bit bigger hockey community in that they recognize the players a little bit more. For my immediate career, this is an exciting place to be. It has only confirmed that this was the right thing to do, although it was a scary decision at first.”

Storr, who will start tonight against Tampa Bay, said he didn’t mind sitting out Carolina’s 3-2 overtime victory.

“We’ve got to do what’s best for the team in terms of our goaltending rotation,” Storr said.

Forward Alexander Frolov, banished to the fourth line earlier in the season, has become more assertive and increased the number of shots he takes.

Playing with the No. 2 line the last two weeks, Frolov had nearly 21 minutes of ice time Thursday against Tampa Bay, more than any other King forward.
