* Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. reported a fiscal second-quarter loss as a rise in revenue from its movies was offset by higher distribution and marketing costs. Lions Gate, run largely from Los Angeles, said it lost $818,000, or 2 cents a share, for the quarter ended Sept. 30, contrasted with a profit of $1.2 million, or 1 cent, a year earlier.

* Mexico’s economy scarcely grew, at 0.4%, in the third quarter as a slump in the industrial sector left it lagging far behind a surge in the economy of the United States, its main trade partner.
