No Love for Tennis
It’s not surprising that tennis fans did not flock to the WTA Championships at Staples.
Not because of the absence of the Williams sisters, but because it is an indoor venue and tennis fans in Southern California want an outdoor one. My preferences are Indian Wells, La Costa and Manhattan Beach Country Club, which the WTA changed to the Home Depot mess in Carson.
The WTA is not in tune with the fans in this area. They should have kept this event at Madison Square Garden.
But then, maybe they were sold a bill of goods by Anschutz.
