A Huntington Beach bicyclist was killed Monday by a hit-and-run driver who returned to the scene and confessed, police said.
Jeanette McGoff, 43, was pronounced dead at Huntington Beach Hospital’s emergency room after being hit by a car about 5:30 p.m. on Slater Avenue just east of Santa Maria Street in Fountain Valley, according to police.
About 40 minutes later, police said, a woman approached officers working the scene and identified herself as the driver who had struck McGoff.
The woman’s car was impounded, a police spokeswoman said, but no arrest has been made and no citation has been issued.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, the spokeswoman said.
