Washington Coach Keith Gilbertson, whose Huskies are the only team to play Ohio State and USC, says it would be an injustice if the Buckeyes were to play in the Sugar Bowl.

“I would clearly say USC [is the better team],” Gilbertson said. “Offensively they have such diversity and dimensions in their offense, the way that they can attack you with the run and pass.

“The amount of things they’re able to do against you with their complete offensive package. The depth at receiver, the quality of their offensive line, how many fine running backs they have. They’re just tougher to defend.”

When asked whether it would be a travesty for Ohio State to make the national-championship game over USC, Gilbertson said: “I certainly do. I think [the Trojans] are very deserving of [playing in the national championship].”
