Since coming to California, King Robyn hasn’t done much wrong for Cornejo Racing, Inc., and trainer Jeff Mullins.

A 3-year-old gelded son of Robyn Dancer who began his career in Florida, King Robyn has won seven of 10 in 2003 and is the one to beat in today’s $150,000 Hollywood Turf Express at 5 1/2 furlongs.

The Turf Express is one of two stakes Hollywood Park is offering on the first day of its three-day Autumn Turf Festival. Earlier on the card, 2-year-old fillies will race in the $100,000 Miesque Stakes at a mile.

A winner in two starts over the Hollywood Park turf course, King Robyn will be seeking his fourth win in a row. The Florida-bred won the Green Flash Handicap on the Del Mar grass on Aug. 20, followed with a decisive victory in the Foothill at Fairplex Park, then a victory by a head in the Morvich Handicap on Oct. 24 at Santa Anita.

Race of the day: Tenpins, who has won nine of 15 for owner Joe Vitello and trainer Don Winfree, is the 119-pound highweight in the $500,000 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs, a Grade II at 1 1/8 miles.

One for the road: Secret Run is moved up after a claim by trainer Frank Laboccetta, Jr. after a big victory last month at Belmont Park. Laboccetta won with nine of his first 16 starters at Aqueduct and can win another with this 3-year-old son of End Sweep in today’s seventh.

Exotically speaking: A Hollywood Park pick four using Ardum Relaunch and Theater R.N. in the seventh, Sharpster, Sombrio and Anziyan Royalty in the eighth, King Robyn, Geronimo and Needwood Blade in the ninth and Clever Play in the 10th.
