Strong Quakes Rattle Northern Island
From Times Wire Reports
Several strong earthquakes, including one of magnitude 6.3, shook Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, but no major damage was reported.
A researcher at the Japan Marine Science and Technology Center predicted that the region could be hit by another quake similar to the magnitude 8 temblor of Sept. 27.
That quake damaged homes and roads, leaving 756 people injured, 59 seriously. Two fishermen were believed to have been swept away by tsunami waves.
