6-Year-Old Dies After South L.A. Drive-By
A 6-year-old boy struck by a bullet outside his family’s South Los Angeles home last weekend has died.
The boy was sitting in a car with his parents and two brothers in the 600 block of East 87th Street when two suspected gang members drove by and opened fire about 8 p.m. Sunday. The boy was hit in the head.
As the attackers drove off, a man ran out of a house across the street and fired several shots at them with an AK-47 rifle, police said. The man fled to a home, where he was arrested, detectives said.
The boy was taken to Martin Luther King/Drew Medical Center by his brother. The brother was found to be carrying a gun and was arrested, police said.
The boy, whose name has not been released, died Tuesday afternoon.
