Is Maimed Girl’s Father Really ‘a Model Parent’?

Re “Father’s Accidental Shotgun Maiming of Daughter Tests Law on Culpability,” Sept. 29:

Why did Jeffrey West have three loaded, unsecured weapons in his possession? What could he possibly need that much protection for?

I’m sick and tired of West’s attorney claiming West was a model parent. Robison Harley, are you a parent? Do you have parents? Did they blow half your body apart with a weapon they knew nothing about?

I know what model parents are: Model parents financially support their children, lock up their firearms and put their children’s safety and well-being above their own.

West acted recklessly and selfishly. Shame on him.
