Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested 16 people, including three suspected of assault with deadly weapons, Thursday during a series of warrant searches involving more than 100 officers in a South Los Angeles neighborhood west of the Harbor Freeway.
Police said they seized about half a dozen guns, cocaine and PCP. Officers simultaneously entered about 30 locations just before 8 p.m.
Officers said that the searches targeted gangs in an area that had experienced several shootings recently, including the killings of a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old.
