Danny Kanell sat out Friday’s practice because of flu, leaving the Denver Broncos with only one healthy quarterback for Sunday’s game at Baltimore.

Newly re-signed quarterback Jarious Jackson took all the snaps Friday, and he said he was coming down with a cold. Kanell, who was given intravenous fluids, was listed as probable on the injury report, though Coach Mike Shanahan said it was unclear whether he would be available Sunday.

Starter Jake Plummer is out because of a broken left foot and backup Steve Beuerlein was put on injured reserve Tuesday after breaking the pinkie on his throwing hand during Sunday’s loss at Minnesota.

Kanell, the third-string quarterback, replaced the injured Beuerlein against the Vikings and was expected to start the next two games until Plummer returned.

The Broncos signed Jackson on Wednesday as Kanell’s backup. Wide receiver Rod Smith is Denver’s emergency quarterback.

Miami quarterback Jay Fiedler was held out of practice because of a knee injury, increasing the chance that Brian Griese will make his first start for the Dolphins on Monday night at San Diego. Coach Dave Wannstedt said Fiedler’s left knee was sore and doctors advised him to rest. He said that he would announce a starting quarterback Monday before the game.

Running back Marshall Faulk of the St. Louis Rams figures to be in uniform Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he probably would be available only in an emergency. He sat out the last three games because of a broken left hand and arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.... Cornerback Bobby Taylor of the Philadelphia Eagles is questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets because of a strained left foot. Taylor, who was injured in the season opener against Tampa Bay, aggravated the injury last Sunday against the New York Giants.... Houston cornerback Aaron Glenn is expected to play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday after sitting out two games because of a strained groin.
