Woman, 88, Dies in Crash
An 88-year-old woman died Wednesday after the car in which she was a passenger was broadsided at a Fountain Valley intersection, authorities said.
Helen Kennedy of Fountain Valley died in the emergency room of Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center following the 4:20 p.m. accident at the Ward and Slater streets, said Joseph Luckey, supervising deputy Orange County coroner.
According to police, Kennedy was riding in a Ford Taurus driven by her husband when it tried to make a left turn and was broadsided by a GMC Jimmy.
Kennedy’s husband, whose name was not released, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Luckey said. His condition was not known.
There were no other injuries, and no citations have been issued, the police said. The accident is under investigation.
