Amram Ducovny, 75; Author, Playwright Was Father of ‘X-Files’ Actor

Amram Ducovny, 75, a writer and father of “The X-Files” star David Duchovny, died in Paris on Aug. 23 of heart disease.

A New York native who adopted Paris as his home 10 years ago, Ducovny wrote 10 nonfiction works, including “David Ben-Gurion: In His Words,” “The Wit and Wisdom of Spiro Agnew” and “How to Shoot a Jewish Western.”

He also wrote a play, “The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald,” which had a brief run off Broadway in 1967 and later was adapted for television.

Two years ago, at age 73, his first novel was published. Called “Coney,” it was a semiautobiographical account of a Jewish teenager’s adventures on Coney Island, where the author grew up.

Ducovny, who dropped the “h” in his name to ease pronunciation, also worked as a publicist for the American Jewish Committee and as a humor columnist for Boston Magazine.
