Child Molesters: One Strike and Out Forever
Re “Skateboarders’ Mentor Is Suspect in Molestations,” Sept. 25: Yet another person who has done prison time for child molestation and was released is allegedly involved in more molestations. It should be clear to even the most ardent civil libertarians among us that this particular crime reaches close to 100% in recidivism. Child molesters are incapable of being cured, incapable of resisting their urges to molest children. Study after study has shown that to be the case.
We need to classify this heinous crime differently from others. Convicted child molesters need to be locked up for life in prison or a facility for the criminally insane with the first conviction, without the possibility of release or parole, ever. We hear about this sort of thing constantly. How much longer are we going to allow this to continue?
