Two Stand Out in This Field of Winners

The seven horses in tonight’s eighth race, a $10,000 claimer at 350 yards, have combined for 41 victories.

Most of the successes have been courtesy of Ryans Ridge and Cool Brown Dasher, who have 25 victories in 98 starts.

An 8-year-old, California-bred gelding, Cool Brown Dasher is 11 for 47 and will be making his second start of the year after a lengthy layoff. The veteran’s last two victories were at tonight’s distance. Hector Cuevas will ride Cool Brown Dasher for owner Salvador Flores and trainer Jose Flores.

Meanwhile, Ryans Ridge is 14 for 51 and trying to make amends for two consecutive defeats as the favorite. Carlos Bautista will ride the 8-year-old for the Donald Ryan Revocable Trust and trainer Jesus Enriquez.

The other horses in the race with multiple victories are Manhood (seven wins), Westmont (five) and Racin For Chicks (two).

Shots in the dark: Honey Piazza switches to jockey Alex Bautista in the sixth. Jealous Rage comes back in his first against winners in the ninth.
