Pursley Reaches Second in Standings With Victory

Greg Pursley took advantage of a favorable inversion as he won the 75-lap Lucas Oil Super Late Model series feature as racing ended Sunday afternoon at Irwindale Speedway in front of about 1,000 fans.

Pursley held the lead for the remainder of the race after taking it from series leader Tim Woods III, who led for the first 22 laps. Woods managed to hold off Brandon Loverock for second; Kevin O’Neill, who set a record the night before, finished fourth, and Nathan Wulff rounded out the top five.

Woods increased his lead in the series to six points over Pursley, who took over the second position in the standings from Rod Johnson.

In the 50-lap West Coast Pro Truck series, series champion Aaron Staudinger held off a series of challenges from Sean Bennett and Jeff Williams to earn the first win of the season.

In the 35-lap Grand American Modified race, Andrew Phipps earned the first win of the season by overcoming a full field inversion, holding off John Watkinson and Joe Ruggles.

In the 25-lap King Taco Legends series, a spin by the current champion, Tom Landreth, caused a nine-car collision on the opening lap, forcing a restart.

J.D. Hendley led for the entire race, holding off Art Nevill and Bob Landreth.
