Halfbridled Tries to Rebound

Halfbridled, who missed Saturday’s Ashland when she developed muscle cramps, will return in today’s $250,000 Stonerside Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland.

The champion 2-year-old filly of 2003, Halfbridled, who is owned by Wertheimer Farm and trained by Richard Mandella, was upset by Silent Sighs in the Santa Anita Oaks on March 13, her first defeat in five starts.

A Grade II at seven furlongs, the Beaumont attracted eight other fillies, but Halfbridled will be a very short price to win her fourth graded race. Alex Solis will ride.

The field also includes Wildwood Flower, a California shipper who will be making her first start for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin after winning three of five for Jerry Hollendorfer; Victory U.S.A., who is trained by Bob Baffert for owner Tom Van Meter II; five-time winner Very Vegas, She’s A Rebel Too, Katestormedthebird, who has won two of three and will be debuting for trainer Wayne Lukas today, Movant, Sweet Vision and Thisgirldontlaugh.

Race of the day: Adminniestrator, who has one second-place finish in three starts since being claimed by owner Michael Gill and trainer Nick Canani for $80,000 on Jan. 4, will drop into a softer spot in search of his 10th lifetime victory in today’s sixth, a $52,000 optional claimer at one mile on the turf, at Santa Anita. The race is part of a pick six with a carry-over of $108,545.

One for the road: Timber Princess, a full sister to multiple-stakes winner Riboletta, can bounce back after a horrendous debut as she stretches to 1 1/8 miles against a weak group in today’s sixth, a $42,000 maiden affair, at Aqueduct. Edgar Prado will ride the 4-year-old Roi Normand filly for owners Aaron and Marie Jones and trainer Todd Pletcher.

Exotically speaking: A pick four using Further in the fifth, Adminniestrator and Oro Desert in the sixth, Tender Teen, Alpine Singer and Royal Kleven in the seventh and Beautifulbutbored, Champ’s Rocket and Red Dynamite in the eighth.
