Memorial Service Set for USC Student Shot to Death on Street
A memorial service will be held Saturday at USC for a student who was found shot to death last weekend at an intersection near his downtown apartment.
Los Angeles police said the body of Max Hazlett, 21, was found on the pavement at Emerald and 2nd streets about 5:30 a.m. Saturday. He had been shot multiple times.
Detectives said Hazlett had lived less than a quarter of a mile away, in a high-rise apartment at Figueroa and 1st streets.
Hazlett, a sophomore from Hawaii, had last been seen about 2 a.m. Saturday, when friends dropped him off near Figueroa and Washington Boulevard after an evening out together, said detectives at the LAPD’s Rampart Division station.
The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at USC’s Fishbowl Chapel.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call homicide detectives at (213) 207-2060.
