Psychiatrists to Assess Fatal-Shooting Suspect

A San Bernardino County Superior Court judge ordered psychiatrists to assess the competency of a Long Beach woman charged in the shooting death of a Crestline man April 2.
Lillian D. Chavez, 52, was found mumbling near the home of David J. Edwards on the night he was killed by a single gunshot to the chest. The psychiatrists’ report on Chavez is due May 14.
