No. 10 Kentucky Rolls to 71-40 Win

Kelenna Azubuike scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half Wednesday night to lead No. 10 Kentucky past intrastate rival Morehead State, 71-40 at Lexington, Ky.

It was the fewest points scored by the Eagles since the 1948-49 season, when they had 31 in a loss to Eastern Kentucky.

Kentucky (5-1) scored the first 20 points of the second half to turn a tight game into a runaway. Morehead State (4-2) trailed, 29-23, at halftime, but the Eagles didn’t get their first second-half basket until 11:07 remained.

No. 19 Virginia 79, Furman 67 -- Gary Forbes had 21 points and J.R. Reynolds had 18 for the Cavaliers (7-1), who went on a late 20-10 run to win at Charlottesville, Va. Quan Prowell led Furman (3-4) with 14 points.

Kevin Bookout scored all 12 of his points in the second half to lead Oklahoma (5-1) to a 66-48 victory over Purdue (1-5) at West Lafayette, Ind.... Chris Thomas and Chris Quinn each scored 13 points and Torin Francis had 11 points and 13 rebounds to lead Notre Dame (4-1) past Indiana, 55-45, at Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers are 2-3.

Jeff Hagen made a layup and a free throw with 2:55 left to put Minnesota (4-3) ahead to stay in a 57-48 victory over Nebraska (3-2) at Lincoln, Neb.... Elgrace Wilborn scored six key points as part of a late 14-0 run that rallied Western Kentucky (6-0) to a 75-63 victory over Eastern Kentucky (5-1) at Bowling Green, Ky.

Lamont Hamilton had 24 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double and St. John’s (3-3) defeated Virginia Tech, 75-65, at New York. Carlos Dixon had 22 points for Hokies (4-2).... Matt Walsh scored 15 points and Florida (5-1) made eight consecutive three-point baskets in the first half to roll to a 93-54 victory over Stetson (2-3) at Gainesville, Fla.

Florida administrative assistant Major Parker, 26, has been arrested on charges of selling half a kilogram of cocaine to an undercover officer. Parker, a former captain on Florida’s team that made it to the Final Four in 2000, was arrested Tuesday and charged with selling the drug to an undercover Gainesville Police Department officer for $12,800. Parker was suspended indefinitely by the university.

C. Vivian Stringer of No. 20 Rutgers became the fourth women’s coach to win 700 games when the Scarlet Knights (5-1) defeated Princeton, 68-46, at Piscataway, N.J. She has a record of 700-240 in 33 years at Cheyney, Iowa and Rutgers. The only coaches ahead of her on the all-time list are Tennessee’s Pat Summitt (856), Texas’ Jody Conradt (851) and Louisiana State’s Sue Gunter (708), who has retired. Princeton, which trailed, 18-0, fell to 2-4.

Janel McCarville had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 16 Minnesota (7-1) to a 60-51 victory over Wisconsin Green Bay (6-1) at Green Bay.... Jessalyn Deveny scored 18 points to lead No. 17 Boston College (6-1) to an 82-40 rout of Fordham (3-4) at Boston.
