Tonight’s telecast The performers, the presenters, the hosts

Justin TIMBERLAKE, pop music’s new bad boy, is still slated to appear at tonight’s Grammy Awards ceremony, but his musical partner shouldn’t have to worry about getting caught up in any “shocking moments”: it’s 54-year-old Cuban bandleader Arturo Sandoval.

Timberlake and Sandoval will be joined by such other Grammy night performers as OutKast, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, the White Stripes, Sting, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Among the 18 awards presenters -- mostly pop, rock, rap and country musicians -- handing out trophies to their peers are Norah Jones, Carlos Santana and Hilary Duff. “Lord of the Rings” costar Sean Astin is one of the nonmusician presenters. The show, being held at Staples Center, will air at 8 p.m. on CBS-TV Channel 2.

In place of an overall host, different segments of the scheduled 3 1/2-hour ceremony will be presided over by celebrities including actors Jack Black and Sarah Jessica Parker, comedian Ellen DeGeneres and musicians Madonna and Queen Latifah.

The show will salute the Beatles’ debut almost 40 years ago to the day on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” which aired at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 1964, on CBS.

Because of the breast-flashing stunt by Janet Jackson and Timberlake at the Super Bowl, CBS will show the Grammys using a new “enhanced delay” system designed to allow any video or audio deemed “inappropriate” to be edited out before it can air.
