Man Is Shot by Deputies in Compton
Sheriff’s deputies in Compton shot and injured one man, arrested another and were searching for a third Thursday night after officers tried to stop a driver for reckless driving, authorities said.
The incident occurred near Rosecrans and Wilmington avenues about 9:30 p.m. None of the deputies involved was injured.
The shooting occurred after the car stopped in the parking lot of a market and two men ran out.
Authorities said that one man appeared to draw a weapon from his waistband and was shot. It wasn’t clear late Thursday night whether the man had been armed.
The driver escaped, and deputies were searching for him. A second passenger, riding in the back, surrendered and was arrested, the Sheriff’s Department said.
