Utah State Streak Ended by Pacific

Pacific held No. 19 Utah State scoreless in the final 3:25, ending the Aggies’ 17-game winning streak with a 64-60 victory Saturday night at Stockton.

The Aggies (20-2, 12-1 Big West), ranked for the first time since 1971, fell two victories short of the longest winning streak in school history. The streak also was the fourth-longest in the nation.

Miah Davis made four free throws in the final 28.2 seconds after Christian Maraker made a jump shot and two free throws to put the Tigers (17-7, 12-1) ahead for the first time since the opening minute.

Utah State had a 12-point lead with 10 1/2 minutes left but couldn’t pull away.

OTHER GAMES

Antoine Hood’s free throw with nine seconds left gave Air Force a 51-50 victory over New Mexico, handing the Lobos their 23rd consecutive road loss. The Falcons (18-3, 8-1 Mountain West), who broke a 46-year-old school record for wins in a season, beat the Lobos (13-9, 4-5) in consecutive games for the first time in 42 years.... Hakim Warrick set a school record by making all 11 of his shot attempts and finished with 27 points, leading Syracuse (16-5, 6-4 Big East) to a 91-74 victory over Miami (13-12, 3-8) at Coral Gables, Fla. The Hurricanes’ longest losing streak in a decade stretched to seven games. The Orangemen again played without sophomore Billy Edelin, who is sidelined indefinitely because of personal problems unrelated to basketball or academics.

Harrison Schaen made two free throws, his only points of the game, to give Princeton (14-7, 7-1) the lead in the first minute of overtime and the Tigers defeated Columbia, 78-71, in New York to remain in first place in the Ivy League.... Austin Peay (16-7, 13-0 Missouri Valley Conference) extended its winning streak to 13 with a 63-56 victory over Murray State (20-5, 10-2) at Clarksville, Tenn. The Governors equaled their longest Division I winning streak set in 1972-73.... Temple (11-10) moved over .500 for the first time this season by defeating Georgetown, 59-53, at Philadelphia. The Hoyas (13-8) have lost eight of 11 since winning their first 10.

Tim Drisdom scored 24 points and Nick Jacobson had 22 to lead Utah (19-5, 7-2 Mountain West) to an 80-70 victory over Colorado State (11-11, 3-6) at Boulder, Colo. It was the Utes’ fourth win in a row.... Franklin & Marshall Coach Glenn Robinson won his 667th game to become the winningest coach in Division III. The 75-52 victory over Muhlenberg at Lancaster, Pa., improved his record to 667-234, giving him one more win than former Illinois Wesleyan coach Dennie Bridges. Robinson, in his 33rd year at Franklin & Marshall, is 12th among all active NCAA coaches in victories and 25th on the all-time NCAA list.
