A woman was killed and two people were critically injured Wednesday in a head-on collision in an unincorporated area near Brea, authorities said.
The accident occurred about 5:45 p.m. on Brea Boulevard, just north of Tonner Canyon Road, when a car crossed the double yellow line and struck another vehicle, said Officer Stacy Willets, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles, Willets said. Her name and the names of the two drivers were not released pending notification of relatives.
Both were taken to Western Medical Center-Anaheim in critical condition, Willets said.
The accident is under investigation, but rain may have been a factor, Willets said. “The roads were very wet out there” at the time of the crash, she said.
