Girl, 13, Dies After Being Struck in Hit-and-Run; Driver Being Sought
A 13-year-old Buena Park girl who was hit by a truck as she crossed a busy intersection near Knott’s Berry Farm died Tuesday of her injuries, officials said.
Alina Zapata was pronounced dead at 10:05 a.m. at UCI Medical Center in Orange. Her family has decided to donate her organs, hospital officials said.
The girl was in a crosswalk at Crescent Avenue and Beach Boulevard on Sunday night when she was struck and tossed 50 feet, police said.
Authorities are still searching for the driver, who fled in a light-colored truck.
