The John Wooden Award got a boost in prestige with the announcement Wednesday that CBS would televise the trophy presentation April 10 at 10 a.m. from the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

It marks the first time since the inception of the award in 1976 that a major network will televise the trophy presentation.

Besides the trophy presentation, the award ceremony April 10 will include the presentation of the Wooden Award All-American team, the inaugural Women’s Wooden Award and the presentation of the Legends of Coaching Award to Stanford’s Mike Montgomery.
