Michael Finley opened the third quarter with a dunk and closed it with a basket from half court, bookends for a 46-point quarter that the Mavericks rode to a 115-91 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night at Dallas.

The Spurs suffered their most lopsided loss of the season and lost two-time most valuable player Tim Duncan for most of the second half because of a bruised thigh.

“He’s probably going to miss a little time,” Coach Gregg Popovich said of Duncan.

Finley made 10 of 14 shots, including five of seven three-point baskets for 30 points to help Dallas improve to 3-0 against San Antonio.

Duncan had 22 points and 17 rebounds when he left with 7:15 to play in the third quarter. The Spurs were down by nine and never got any closer.

Washington 95, Chicago 87 -- One night after staging a mini-mutiny on offense, Gilbert Arenas had his second career triple-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists at Washington.

On Wednesday, Arenas didn’t take a shot until 5:30 remained at Toronto, smarting from accusations of selfishness by teammate Kwame Brown.

Kirk Hinrich scored 23 for the Bulls.

Guard Sam Cassell of the Minnesota Timberwolves could sit out his second game in a row tonight because of tendinitis in his left ankle.
