A 17-year-old Oxnard boy was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car with several other people in what appeared to be a gang-related attack, police said Saturday.

Fernando Mosqueda was shot about 9:50 p.m. Friday in the 1700 block of San Marino Street, police said. He was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Mosqueda and his friends had been sitting in a parked car when another vehicle pulled up, police said. Several males got out of the second vehicle and approached the parked car.

One of them asked Mosqueda and his acquaintances where they were from, and then, at least one began to shoot into the victim’s vehicle, police said.
