A ‘Fabulous U.S. Debut

Share

A Group I winner in her native Argentina, Potra Fabulous will make her U.S. debut in today’s seventh, a $70,000 allowance at a mile on the turf, at Santa Anita.

Owned by Gary Tanaka and trained by Bobby Frankel, the 5-year-old Potrillon mare will break from the inside against four rivals -- Lacrystal Classic, Dreamers Glory, Fun House and Abbey Bridge.

Capable on both turf and dirt -- she has been in the top three in all five races on each surface -- Potra Fabulous will be making her first start since she won the Estrellas Distaff last June 28 at San Isidro. She won by two lengths that day at 2-1 while carrying 127 pounds.

Scheduled to race with Lasix for the first time, Potra Fabulous will be seeking her second win in four tries at today’s distance and will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux.

Frankel will also send out Dreamers Glory, a 5-year-old Holy Bull mare owned by Frank Stronach. Her only grass victory came Nov. 13 at Hollywood Park when she beat a field that included the Frankel-trained Lady Annaliese.

Race of the day: Superiority, who has won four of his last five starts, will try to extend a two-race winning streak on Santa Anita’s turf course in today’s second, a $50,000 claimer at 1 1/4 miles. Tonco, Star Over The Bay, Little Ghazi, Motto, Nazirali and Speed Of Light complete the field.

One for the road: Crimson should improve a bunch in her second start for trainer Christophe Clement in today’s fifth at Gulfstream Park. The Kris S. filly will add Lasix in the $32,000 maiden affair at 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Edgar Prado will ride.

Exotically speaking: A pick four using Minister Blair, Excellent Event and Four Song Limit in the fifth, Tell No Tales, Oneexcessivenite and Tracy’s Tracton in the sixth, Potra Fabulous in the seventh and Spirit O’War, Gross Margin and Oh So Sultry in the eighth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 1/34. Money: Previous day/meet total: $6.40/$175.40. Total money bet: $192.
