Jackson Makes Big Shot to Lead Kings Past Spurs

San Antonio managed to stay close until Bobby Jackson’s big shot put the game away.

Jackson converted a four-point play with 29 seconds left to help the Sacramento Kings put down a late rally by the Spurs and win, 96-91, Thursday night at San Antonio.

“Sometimes it’s going to go, and some nights it’s not going to go,” said Jackson, who missed in a similar situation Monday night in a loss in Dallas. “You just have to continue to have confidence in yourself and just shoot the ball.”

Tim Duncan scored to bring the Spurs within six points in the final minute, Manu Ginobili stole a pass by Mike Bibby and hit Malik Rose for a dunk to make it 91-87 with 46 seconds left.

The Kings ran the shot clock almost all the way down before Bibby found Jackson in the left corner. Jackson made a fall-away three-pointer while being fouled by Bruce Bowen, and he made the free throw to seal the outcome.

Peja Stojakovic led the Kings with 22 points, while Jackson had 18 and Bibby 17.

Duncan had 35 points and 18 rebounds for San Antonio, which led, 16-5, at the outset, but trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half.

New Jersey 89, Orlando 79 -- Jason Kidd scored 20 of his 33 points in the first half to lead the Nets at Orlando, Fla.

Interim Coach Lawrence Frank earned his second victory since taking over this week for the fired Byron Scott.

Kidd made 15 of 27 shots in breaking out of a slump in which he scored a combined 32 points in his previous three games.

Tracy McGrady, who would have passed Allen Iverson for the NBA scoring lead with a fifth straight 30-point game, had 22.

Portland 93, Atlanta 85 -- Rasheed Wallace had 11 of his 20 points during 20-6 third-quarter run, and Zach Randolph finished with 22 to help the Trail Blazers win their fourth in a row on the road. Stephen Jackson had 15 points for Atlanta.
