Hit-Run Driver Who Killed Man Is Sought

Detectives searched Sunday for a suspected hit-and-run motorist who struck and killed a homeless man in Santa Ana, police said.

The driver was eastbound in the 2700 block of West 1st Street at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday when he or she hit the victim, police said. The man, who has not been identified, was hit while crossing 1st Street outside the crosswalk. Police said he appeared to be in his 40s.

He was pronounced dead Sunday at UCI Medical Center in Orange. Anyone with information can call police at (714) 245-8216.
