Carl Everett showed how comfortable he feels in a Chicago White Sox uniform.

Everett went two for five with a home run, leading Chicago to a 12-6 victory over the Texas Rangers on Monday night at Arlington, Texas, a day after he rejoined the White Sox in a trade.

Everett was the designated hitter and fit nicely into the fifth slot in a White Sox lineup that started the night averaging .186 in July. He played for the Rangers and White Sox last season, then began this season with Montreal before he was traded for minor leaguers Jon Rauch and Gary Majewski.

“Hopefully that’s just the beginning,” Everett said.

Seattle 8, Boston 4 -- Bret Boone’s grand slam in the bottom of the 11th inning won the game for the Mariners at Seattle. The Red Sox took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but closer Keith Foulke gave up solo homers to Miguel Olivo and Edgar Martinez to send the game into extra innings.

Toronto 5, Oakland 3 -- Vernon Wells homered in a four-run fourth and the Blue Jays ended their season-high six-game losing streak with the win at Oakland.

Baltimore 7, Kansas City 4 -- Sidney Ponson (4-12) gave up two runs in six innings at Kansas City, Mo., to end his nine-game losing streak.

Minnesota 3, Detroit 1 -- Terry Mulholland (2-3) gave up one run and four hits in 6 2/3 innings at Detroit to join the New York Mets’ Al Leiter and the Yankees’ Kevin Brown as the only pitchers to beat all 30 teams.

Tampa Bay 9, New York 7 -- Aubrey Huff and Robert Fick drove in two runs each for the Devil Rays at St. Petersburg, Fla.

Huff’s two-run double was the big blow in a five-run first for the Devil Rays, who beat the Yankees in the series opener after losing four in a row to New York before the All-Star break.
