A father and his son were arrested outside a Woodland Hills bar early Friday after what police said was a racially motivated fight.

Billy Milliken, 58, and David Milliken, 30, were among a group of white men trying to enter the Candy Canyon Cocktail Lounge on Topanga Canyon Boulevard about 2:10 a.m., Los Angeles Police Det. Brad Roberts said.

An African American man was waiting outside and began talking to two white women, angering another man who tackled him, Roberts said.

The victim fought back, then ran across the street and flagged down a police car, Roberts said.

It was not clear if either Milliken was involved in the fight. The son was arrested on suspicion of a felony hate crime for allegedly calling the African American man derogatory names. The senior Milliken was arrested for allegedly interfering with police as they arrested his son, Officer Esther Reyes said.

No one was injured outside the bar. However, four officers who were responding to a call for assistance there suffered minor injuries when their two cars collided in the intersection of Topanga Canyon and Victory boulevards.
