Broadway blues

The reasons for casting a Madonna or a Sean “Puffy” Combs in a Broadway show are obvious. I don’t fault Chris Kattan in the least. I only feel for him being treated so rudely, as if his dismissal was for his own mistake (“A Frog Among Princes,” July 18).

I fault the producers of “The Frogs” for once again taking employment out of the hands of hard-working, well-trained actors and giving it to a “name.” If anyone should know and respect the rigors of working on the stage, it should be the likes of Sondheim, Stroman and Lane. They tried to bolster their ticket sales (as if the names Sondheim and Lane aren’t enough) and disrespected their craft, and they got burned.

They deserve it.
