Pedestrian Badly Hurt in Hit, Run

A 24-year-old man was seriously injured Monday by a hit-and-run driver at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Bonita Canyon Drive in Newport Beach, authorities said.
Police said the Los Angeles resident, whose name was not released, was crossing the street about 9:25 p.m. when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan traveling north on MacArthur. The impact threw him 120 feet.
The victim was hospitalized at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana with massive head, leg and abdominal injuries.
