Man Likely a Victim of Drowning
A Yucaipa man apparently drowned Tuesday while surfing at Doheny State Beach with his two sons, authorities said.
Kenneth Pierce, 51, was pulled from the surf off the Dana Point beach about 5:30 p.m. by one of the sons, said Joseph Luckey, a supervising deputy Orange County coroner. The son called paramedics, who along with lifeguards administered CPR. Pierce was taken to San Clemente Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
“It just appears to be a surfing accident,” Luckey said. An autopsy will be performed today, he said.
