Rodie, who has signed with Boise State, ran a season-best 1:52.04 to win the state title after surging into the lead entering the final straightaway.

A stress fracture in his left foot prevented Matusak from racing from late Match until early May, but he won the state title in 4:15.89 after surging past favored Brandon Bethke of El Toro with 100 meters left.

Azusa Pacific-bound Tachias won the Masters Meet in 9:09.06 and placed third in the state championships in 9:13.28.

Profit won the high and intermediate hurdles in the Masters Meet before finishing second in both races in the state meet. Had bests of 13.86 in the high hurdles and 37.11 in the intermediates.

(Antonio Harris, Jr.; Vincent Joseph, So.; Adrian Brown, Jr.; Derrick Jones, Sr.) Jackrabbits placed second in the state championships. Had a best of 41.12.

(Julian Sylve, Sr.; Rodney Van, Sr.; Travon Patterson, So.; Derrick Jones, Sr.) Jackrabbits ran a season-best 3:13.74 to win their fourth consecutive state title and hand national leader Dorsey a rare loss.

Turner was among the most consistent jumpers in the Southland, clearing 6-9 to win the Southern Section Division I title and 6-8 to win the Masters Meet and place third in the state championships.

Lubeck cleared a school-record 16-0 to place second in the state championships after finishing third in the Masters Meet and second in the Southern Section Division I final.

*--* Demitri Mosby, Gahr Sr. Long Jump

Mosby won the state title with a leap of 24-3 3/4 after winning the Masters Meet with a career-best 24-6 1/4. He also won his second consecutive Southern Section Division III title.

*--* Michael Johnson, Rancho Cucamonga Sr. Triple Jump

Johnson bounded a wind-aided 50-2 3/4 to finish second in the state championships after winning the Masters Meet at 49-0 1/4 and the Southern Section Division I title with a career best 49-2.

The Oregon signee had the five farthest puts in the state final, capped by his winning effort of 63-5 1/2. His best of 65-11 came in the Pac-5 League finals.

Cornell, who signed with Long Beach State, finished second in the state championships and was runner-up in the Arcadia Invitational in April with a career best of 203-5.

Coaching Staff of the Year: Dorsey

(Coach Ralph Tilley; assistants Mark Andrews, Stan Johnson, James Robertson.) Dorsey totaled a meet-record 125 points in romping to the City Section title and finished third at state.
