United Delays Exit From Bankruptcy
From Associated Press
UAL Corp.’s United Airlines said it would take longer than planned to get out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, telling a Bankruptcy Court judge it would be premature to emerge by June 30 as intended since several critical issues were still unsettled.
The nation’s second-largest carrier did not cite a new target date but said it expected to be able to exit bankruptcy sometime this summer if it received a $1.6-billion federal loan guarantee soon and if Congress approved pending legislation granting airlines pension relief.
