U.S. credit card delinquencies rose to a record in the fourth quarter as the average unemployed worker took almost five months to find a new job, making it difficult for some Americans to keep up with payments, the American Bankers Assn. said in Washington.
The number of consumers behind on credit card payments increased to 4.43% from October through December, surpassing the record of 4.09% reached the previous quarter, according to the group.
