Riverside Asks Residents to Cut Use of Water

From a Times Staff Writer

Riverside residents are being urged to conserve water through the end of April because of unseasonably balmy spring weather, coupled with road work taking one of the city’s three major water pipelines out of service.

The city’s public utilities department is asking residents to minimize watering of lawns and gardens. Residents are urged to run only full loads in washing machines and dishwashers, take shorter showers and not wash cars at home.

If the city needs additional water, the department will buy it from Northern California.

The pipeline is being taken out of service because of the interchange construction project where the Riverside and Pomona freeways meet.
