Radiohead confirmed for Coachella

Throat ailment or not, the show is expected to go on tonight for Radiohead singer Thom Yorke.

Radiohead is the scheduled headliner at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival tonight, but there has been anxiety that a severe throat infection would force Yorke to dash those plans.

The word Friday from Coachella promoter Paul Tollet: “We’ve been told there are no problems and no chance of a cancellation. The band is in town, and everything should be fine.”

Radiohead arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday from Australia, where Yorke had struggled through several shows before his failing voice forced him to cancel a Tuesday performance in Melbourne. The show organizers had said Yorke would risk “irreparable damage” to his voice without rest.

The band’s appearance at this year’s two-day Coachella festival helped the 5-year-old Indio event sell all 50,000 tickets for today’s slate of performances, which also includes the Pixies and Kraftwerk.
