An Oxnard man named as a suspect in a slaying last month is believed to be responsible for two other homicides the same day, authorities said Thursday.

Rudolfo Negrete, 22, is being sought in the killings of Cynthia Jordan, 22, and Alexander Lee Jordan, 24, of Taft. Cynthia Jordan was in the early stages of pregnancy, officials said.

An arrest warrant was issued late last month for Negrete in connection with the death of Daniel Campos, 21, of Oxnard.

Robbery and the suspect’s possible gang ties were being investigated, authorities said.

Other suspects were also being sought, but Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Eric Nishimoto declined to release details.

Campos was found dead about 1 a.m. April 17 in the 3400 block of Hailes Road near Camarillo.

About 3:30 p.m. that day, deputies responded to a call of suspicious activity near Cal State Channel Islands and found the Jordans dead in a wooded area off Potrero Road.

All three victims had been shot in the head.

There was no evidence that the Jordans knew Campos. Robbery appears to be a motive, at least in the case of the Jordans, Nishimoto said Thursday.

The couple’s 2002 Chevrolet Impala was missing, but was recovered two days later in Oxnard. Family members believe the couple was on a weekend excursion to the beach.

Authorities initially said Campos’ slaying was unrelated to the Jordans’ deaths.

However, Nishimoto said, physical evidence collected at the scene and during the service of several search warrants throughout the county helped them link the crimes and identify Negrete.

“It was also based on extensive interviews with various people, including family members and acquaintances,” he said.

Oxnard police spokesman David Keith said officers were investigating Negrete’s possible gang ties.

Negrete has been arrested in the past in connection with several minor traffic violations and on suspicion of marijuana possession, according to Nishimoto.

Anyone with information about the killings should call detectives at 477-7000 or after-hours at 654-2311.
