Poet gets a word in

Regarding “Mountain as Muse” [Oct. 26], Gary Snyder’s chronicle of Mt. St. Helens dating to 1945: Not often enough are poets bestowed the title of firsthand journalist when, in fact, that is exactly what all good poetry strives to be -- a document of the living, crafted for future generations.
