Driver Involved in Crash Dies in Second Accident

A man standing on the shoulder of the Foothill tollway was struck and killed Tuesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

Juan Mena Porcayo, 31, of Lake Forest was pronounced dead at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo after the 6:20 a.m. accident near Los Alisos Boulevard, officials said.

According to the CHP, Porcayo was outside his vehicle because he had been involved in another accident.

A 20-year-old Rancho Santa Margarita man told authorities that he was driving about 70 mph when he swerved to avoid stopped traffic and struck Porcayo. He was not cited, pending an ongoing investigation.
